ARLINGTON, Texas - Texas Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish is scheduled to pitch Sunday in his first minor-league rehab start since undergoing Tommy John surgery more than 13 months ago.

The Rangers say Darvish will pitch for Double-A Frisco in its home game against Corpus Christi. Darvish will go two innings or about 30 pitches.

Darvish wasn't talking to reporters on Wednesday, a day after throwing live batting practice session.

"I like seeing him on a mound with a baseball in hand," Rangers manager Jeff Banister said Tuesday after the 29-year-old threw 45 pitches at Globe Life Park. "The ball came out clean. His secondary stuff was good. Still, like most, if not all Tommy John pitchers, they look, search and try to find their feel for consistent secondary stuff.

Darvish, a native of Habikino, Japan, last pitched in a major league game Aug. 9, 2014, then missed the end of that season because of right elbow inflammation. He pitched only one inning the following spring before surgery on March 17, 2015.
