The Toronto Blue Jays' beleaguered bullpen will be without Gavin Floyd for most of the summer, as the 33-year-old right-hander has been diagnosed with a torn lat and is expected to miss the next 8-to-12 weeks, the club announced Tuesday.

Floyd, who logged only 21 appearances from 2013-2015 due to a litany of elbow injuries, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday after being lifted from his outing against the Chicago White Sox the day before just two batters in.

"I felt pretty good (warming up), If I didn’t, I would have told them I couldn’t go but I felt pretty good today," Floyd told Sportsnet's Shi Davidi after Saturday's appearance. "One pitch I felt (the tightness) a little bit more than others."

In 28 games this season, Floyd - who landed a one-year deal with Toronto after making seven relief outings for Cleveland down the stretch in 2015 - managed a 4.06 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP, notching 30 strikeouts while allowing four home runs in 31 innings.

Bo Schultz, who fashioned a 3.56 ERA over 31 appearances with the Blue Jays in 2015, was recalled Sunday to replace Floyd on the 25-man roster.
