Greinke's 'drive the bus' celebration pleases Peralta
Sometimes it's the little things that count the most.
On Monday, mild-mannered Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Greinke made the night of teammate David Peralta via his celebration after hitting a single.
Greinke - always focused and locked in during games - broke character for a brief moment after Peralta screamed at him from the team's bench to "drive the bus."
The popular Diamondbacks celebration is everywhere in the desert, even among fans:
"When he got to first, I was trying to give him the sign and say, 'Come on, drive the bus,'" Peralta told reporters after the gane. "He was trying to ignore me, and I'm like c'mon. And then he did it. I was so excited. It was the best moment of the game. You know he's kind of serious and everything. I like him to drive the bus."
Greinke said postgame he didn't think about celebrating until Peralta started yelling at him.
"It never crossed my mind and then I just saw him," the ace explained. "I gotta make him feel good, he's driving in a lot of runs for us."
After crossing Greinke off his list of players to drive the bus, Peralta has his next target in mind:
