St. Louis Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday legged out a rare, first-inning triple Monday night at Chase Field - just his second since the start of 2014 - and it may have cost him.

Holliday, who was limited to 73 games last year due to a quadriceps injury, was removed from his club's series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks after the top of the third inning due to a right leg cramp, the team announced. The 36-year-old was replaced by Jeremy Hazelbaker and is considered day to day.

Of the 142 players with at least 1,000 plate appearances since the start of 2014, only 22 (15.4 percent) have fewer than two triples. Prior to Monday's game, Holliday's last triple came back on June 7, 2015 at Dodger Stadium.
