The move was merely procedural in order to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-handed reliever Layne Somsen. Lorenzen remains in the early stages of his recovery from a strained right elbow, though he was able to begin throwing a little more than a week ago, putting him on pace for a potential season debut by mid-May.
