Grilli: Blue Jays were my favorite team as a kid

If the Toronto Blue Jays' reported deal with the Atlanta Braves for right-hander Jason Grilli does get finalized, it'll be a dream come true for the 39-year-old reliever.

Last year, after all, Grilli admitted in a questionnaire from The Players' Tribune that the Blue Jays were his favorite sports team when he was growing up. Grilli, an All-Star with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2013, was born in southeastern Michigan and spent his high school years in Baldwinsville, N.Y., which are both within a four-hour drive of Rogers Centre.

Grilli, who owns a 5.29 ERA with a 1.71 WHIP in 21 appearances for the Braves this season, was reportedly dealt to Toronto on Tuesday in exchange for minor-league right-hander Sean Ratcliffe.
