Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts picked up right where his teammate Jackie Bradley Jr. left off - sort of.

One night after Bradley's 29-game hitting streak came to an end, Bogaerts extended his own to 20 with a single off Blue Jays right-hander Aaron Sanchez during the fourth inning of Boston's 7-5 loss to Toronto.

Entering Friday, Bogaerts was slashing .398/.438/.614 with four homers and six doubles since the streak began with a two-hit night May 6 at Yankee Stadium. His 1-for-4 performance Friday raised his season line to .345/.398/.503 over 46 games.

Bogaerts' remarkable run also includes hitting safely in 32 of his last 34 games.

Bradley's streak tied Johnny Damon for the fourth-longest streak in franchise history. Dom DiMaggio, Joe's brother, owns the Red Sox record of 34 consecutive games with a hit.
