Report: Bautista's appeal to be heard Thursday

Mark L. Baer / USA TODAY Sports

Jose Bautista will have to set his alarm early as he stares down a busier than usual Thursday in Manhattan.

Before the Toronto Blue Jays take on the New York Yankees, MLB has scheduled Bautista's suspension appeal for early morning, according to multiple reports.

Bautista is appealing a one-game ban he was given for his role in a bench-clearing brawl with the Texas Rangers on May 15.

After Matt Bush drilled the slugger with a fastball to the ribs, Bautista went on to slide hard into second baseman Rougned Odor. Odor then punched Bautista in the face as a response to the slide, triggering a brawl.

Odor had his eight-game appeal heard on Monday via conference call.
