The White Sox and the Tigers were scheduled to open the season with a four-game series in Chicago April 3-6, but because of the weather ended up playing just two contests, which they split. Detroit was 8-1 at home against the White Sox in 2016.

The White Sox have outscored their opponents 33-10 during their current four-game winning streak. They are batting .345 (48/139) as a team (.357 with RISP) in these contests.

DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers felt they had no choice but to send Mike Pelfrey packing at the end of spring training. Less than a month later, Pelfrey will get a chance to exact some revenge against his former team.
The veteran right-hander will start for the Chicago White Sox on Friday night against one of the pitchers who edged him out for the fifth spot in Detroit's rotation, left-hander Matt Boyd.

DETROIT (AP)  Mike Pelfrey put his emotions aside and helped his new team, the Chicago White Sox, beat his old team, the Detroit Tigers.
Pelfrey, who was released by the Tigers near the end of spring training, started Friday's game at Detroit and left after 4 2/3 innings with the game tied. Geovany Soto then had a two-run single in the eighth, helping the White Sox beat the Tigers 7-3 at Comerica Park.
