The Mets took two of three games from Atlanta in a season-opening series in New York this year. Atlanta won 10 of the 19 games in the series last season.

The Braves have stumbled to a six-game losing streak, on the heels of a five-game winning streak from April 12-17. Atlanta is 11-30 (.268) over the last two Aprils combined, easily the worst in the majors.

New York has lost eight of its last nine games after a 7-3 start to the season. The Mets have averaged 2.9 runs per game over their last nine, hitting just .179 in those contests.

Michael Conforto is batting .458 (11/27) this season with the bases empty, compared to .167 (2/12) with runners on base. All four of his home runs have been solo shots, including two over the weekend versus the Nationals.

Freddie Freeman ranks in the top three in the majors this year in batting average (.381, third), on-base percentage (.494, second) and slugging percentage (.810, second).

Julio Teheran is 3-0 with a 0.63 ERA over his last six starts against the Mets going back to June 2015. He threw 6.0 shutout innings against New York on Opening Day, getting a no-decision in Atlanta's 6-0 loss.

NEW YORK -- Mets starter Noah Syndergaard was scratched from his scheduled Thursday start and sent to see a specialist due to tightness in his right biceps, pushing right-hander Matt Harvey to the mound for New York for a matinee with the Atlanta Braves.
Manager Terry Collins said Thursday morning the Mets suspect Syndergaard is dealing with biceps tendinitis but will await confirmation before determining when the right-handed ace might return to the mound.

NEW YORK (AP)  Yoenis Cespedes reached down and golfed a knuckleball on a bounce against the right-center field wall, then while running at third-quarters speed started hopping toward second. He bent over when he reached the base and put hands on both knees.
In a series of setbacks for the New York Mets on Thursday, they scratched Noah Syndergaard because of biceps and shoulder discomfort, lost their top slugger to a strained hamstring that will send him to the disabled list, then watched substitute starter Matt Harvey get whacked.
