Blue Jays

The Blue Jays split four games versus the Los Angeles Angels in a four-game series that finished last night with a 2-1 Toronto loss in Anaheim. It was the first series that the Blue Jays did not lose this season. The Blue Jays are now an MLB-worst 5-14 and are still looking for their first consecutive wins of the season.

The Cardinals won 3-of-4 in Milwaukee against the Brewers, and have now won six of their last seven games after starting the season 3-9. St. Louis has scored more than six runs in a game just once all season (April 8 vs. Cincinnati).

This will be the sixth interleague series between the Blue Jays and Cardinals, and first in St. Louis since 2011 (Toronto swept three games). The Cardinals lead the all-time series, 8-7.

Kevin Pillar (23 hits, 3 HR, 2 SB) and Aledmys Diaz (18 hits, 4 HR, 3 SB) are two of five MLB players currently leading their team in hits, home runs and stolen bases. The other three are Nolan Arenado (Col), Cesar Hernandez (Phi) and Mike Trout (LAA).

Since coming into the majors in 2012, Matt Carpenter's .623 career interleague slugging percentage is third best in the majors (minimum 150 PA) behind only Edwin Encarnacion (.626) and Nelson Cruz (.624).

Despite a 2.63 ERA, Marco Estrada is still looking for his first 2017 win. Estrada is one of five qualifying pitchers (minimum 1 IP per team game) with zero wins and a sub-3.00 ERA. Estrada has eight consecutive quality starts (6.0+ IP, 3 ER allowed or fewer) in interleague matchups.

ST. LOUIS -- After leaping over catcher Yadier Molina to score the tiebreaking run in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday night, Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Chris Coghlan returned to the bench, where he was greeted by appreciative teammates.
Manager John Gibbons had a message for him as well, telling him he had never seen that before.

Blue Jays seek first series win of season

ST. LOUIS (AP)  The St. Louis Cardinals' game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night has been postponed because of rain.
The game has been rescheduled as part of a day-night doubleheader on Thursday. The first game will start as scheduled at 12:45 p.m. The makeup game will start at 6:15 p.m.
