The winner of Game 3 when the World Series is tied 1-1 has won the series 69.1 percent of the time (best-of-7 only). However, each of the last two occurrences (2013 Cardinals and 2014 Royals) ultimately lost the series.

The Cubs evened the series with a 5-1 win in Game 2, their first victory in a World Series game since October 8, 1945. Chicago drew eight walks, its most in any postseason game since Game 4 of the 2003 NLCS (eight).

The Indians were held to just one run on four hits in the Game 2 loss. Both the one run and four hits were the fewest by Cleveland in the World Series since the one-hit shutout in Game 6 of the 1995 Fall Classic.

Ben Zobrist went 2-for-4 with his first career postseason triple in the Game 2 win. Zobrist leads all players with five hits in the series, and is the first player since Pablo Sandoval in 2012 with five or more hits through the first two games of the World Series.

Jason Kipnis was 1-for-4 with a double and the only run scored by Cleveland on Wednesday night, but did commit two errors in the field. Kipnis joined Joe Sewell from Games 6 and 7 of the 1920 World Series as the only Indians to commit multiple errors in a World Series game.

Kyle Hendricks is coming off 7.1 innings of two-hit shutout ball in the Game 6 clincher against the Dodgers. It was just the fourth start in Cubs postseason history of at least 7.0 innings, no runs, and two hits or fewer, and the first since Rick Sutcliffe in Game 1 of the 1984 NLCS.

Josh Tomlin has won both his starts this postseason, allowing just three runs on seven hits while striking out 10 in 10.2 innings. Tomlin is looking to become only the second player in franchise history to win each of his first three career postseason starts, joining Stan Coveleski from 1920.

CHICAGO -- Kyle Schwarber will not play in the field in Wrigley Field.
Kyle Hendricks will, however, and that may provide a bigger impediment for Cleveland when the World Series shifts to Chicago for Game 3 Friday after the teams split the first two games at Progressive Field.
