The Cubs are up 3-2 in a best-of-seven playoff series for just the second time in franchise history. In 2003, they were up 3-2 against the Florida Marlins in the NLCS but went on to lose the series 4-3. Chicago is 0-6 all-time in series-clinching NLCS games (0-3 in 1984 vs. Padres and 0-3 in 2003 vs. Marlins).

The Dodgers are trailing a best-of-seven playoff series 2-3 for the eighth time in franchise history and have never come back to win a series (0-7). The Dodgers are 2-5 in Game 6 when trailing a best-of-seven playoff series 2-3 and have lost the last four of these games (most recently 2013 NLCS vs. St. Louis Cardinals).

In Game 2 of this series in Chicago, Kyle Hendricks got the loss while only giving up one run and three hits in 5.1 innings. Hendricks was the first Cubs starting pitcher to lose a postseason game that pitched at least five innings and allowed just one or fewer runs since Kerry Wood lost to the Braves in Game 3 of the 1998 NLDS (5.0 IP, 1 run).

Clayton Kershaw will be pitching with the Dodgers facing elimination in a playoff series for the seventh time in his career (will be his fifth start). In these six games, Kershaw is 1-2 (Dodgers are 3-3) with a 6.15 ERA and a .245 opponent batting average (includes NLDS Game 4 and 5 this postseason).

After going 1-for-24 (.042 average) in his first seven games this postseason, Addison Russell has gone 5-for-10 (.500 average) with two home runs and four RBI over his last two postseason games. Russell is the first Cubs player to homer in back-to-back NLCS games since Sammy Sosa and Alex Gonzalez did in 2003 in Games 1 and 2 against the Florida Marlins.

In the first inning this postseason, Corey Seager is batting .667 (6-for-9) with two home runs, two runs, and three RBI. After the first inning this postseason, Seager is batting .094 (3-for-32) with no home runs, one run, and one RBI. Seager's six first-inning hits this postseason are the most in Dodgers franchise history in a single postseason.

CHICAGO -- It was not hard to spot Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw before Game 5 of the NLCS in Dodger Stadium. Uniform pants rolled up to his knees, his preferred look, Kershaw went through his pregame normal work in extra-normal circumstances.
All Kershaw has to do now is save the Dodgers' season.
