The Pirates tied the Cubs, 1-1, in Pittsburgh on Thursday after the game was called due to rain in the sixth inning. It was the Pirates' first tie since August 24, 1998, a 5-5 game against the Cardinals.

The Cardinals beat the Reds, 4-3, in St. Louis on Thursday after Yadier Molina hit a walkoff double in the ninth inning. The win keeps their playoff hopes alive, although they still sit 1.0 game behind the Giants for the second wild card spot.

Pittsburgh has a slight edge in the season series, winning nine of the 16 games between the two this year, including five of seven at St. Louis.

Tyler Glasnow allowed four runs (three earned) in 3.0 innings against the Nationals on Sunday, taking a no decision. The rookie will be making just his fourth start, and is still looking for his first career win. He made his MLB debut against the Cardinals in July, allowing four runs (all earned) in 5.1 innings.

Carlos Martinez allowed just two runs (both earned) in 6.0 innings against the Cubs on Sunday, but was tagged with his ninth loss of the season. Martinez has already posted a career high in wins with 15, with one of those coming against the Pirates -- in his longest start of the season, he went 8.1 innings and allowed just one run in Pittsburgh in June.

In addition to the walkoff double, Molina also hit a home run last night, continuing his big second half. He hit just .259 prior to the All-Star break, but since then has hit .358, the highest second-half number of his career.

ST. LOUIS -- Michael Wacha's last appearance Monday night didn't exactly inspire a whole lot of confidence.
But neither did Jaime Garcia or Luke Weaver, who were strafed before and after Wacha in the St. Louis Cardinals' 15-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. So Wacha will draw the start Saturday in St. Louis' must-win game with the Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium.

ST. LOUIS (AP)  Jedd Gyorko has gotten plenty of big hits during his second-half. He got the biggest hit of his career Saturday.
Gyorko connected for a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning, Matt Holliday provided another boost off the bench and the St. Louis Cardinals pushed the playoff race to the final day of the regular season, beating Pittsburgh 4-3.
