The A's beat the Rangers, 7-1, at home yesterday, snapping a five-game losing streak in which they tallied just eight runs total. Oakland is just 20-33 (.377) in its last 53 games -- second worst in MLB since July 29 (Minnesota -- 18-37).

Los Angeles dropped a 4-1 home decision to Houston on Sunday, snapping its four-game winning streak in the process. The Halos have scored one run or fewer seven times in their last 18 contests -- most of any team in the majors since September 7.

The Angels have won nine of 16 meetings with the A's in 2016, and with one more victory, will take the season series vs. Oakland for the third straight year. Seven of the last 11 games between these clubs at Angel Stadium have been decided by a single run (Angels have won five of those contests).

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP)  Say this for Los Angeles Angels rookie Jefry Marte, he understands good timing.
Playing before his mother in the United States for the first time, the 25-year-old Marte hit his first career grand slam to spark a seven-run fourth inning and lead the Angels to an 8-1 victory Tuesday over the Oakland Athletics.
