Arizona torched Cincinnati, 11-2, at Chase Field on Sunday, taking two of three over the weekend, and finishing up its latest homestand with a mark of 4-3. The D-backs have tallied 10+ runs four times in their last 14 games -- most of any team in the majors since August 15.

San Francisco beat Atlanta, 13-4, at home on Sunday, taking two of three from the Braves, and winning its first series since August 8-10 in Miami. The Giants banged out 18 hits in Sunday's triumph -- the fourth time this season that they've had 18+ base knocks in a game (tied for second most in MLB).

The Giants swept three from the D-backs in these clubs' last meeting (July 8-10), and have won nine of the last 10 games against Arizona overall. Dating to May 11, 2012, San Francisco has won 12 of its last 13 series vs. the D-backs at Chase Field (30-11 overall record).

Zack Greinke went 6.0 innings and allowed four runs (all earned) six days ago vs. the Braves, garnering his second- straight no-decision for the effort. Greinke, who is 0-1 with a 9.20 ERA in his last three outings, is 8-1 with a 2.28 ERA in his last 10 starts vs. the Giants (since beginning of 2014).

Johnny Cueto allowed just one run (earned) in 6.0 IP last Wednesday vs. the Dodgers, but the offense couldn't score, and he took the loss. Cueto is 8-2 with a 2.93 ERA in 11 career starts against the D-backs.

Denard Span went 2-for-5 with a homer on Sunday, recording his third straight multi-hit contest, and upping his batting average to a team-high .346 this month. Span has gone deep five times in his last 23 games (had just four homers in first 96 games of the season).

SAN FRANCISCO -- No team played a bigger role in Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Shelby Miller getting demoted to the minors this season than the San Francisco Giants.
So it's fitting then that Miller, in his return to the majors Wednesday, gets to put his new form on display against the Giants.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP)  Matt Moore hardly needed the warm, standing ovation to realize what late-season baseball is like in the Bay Area.
It still meant plenty for the pitcher to receive such a greeting from San Francisco's sellout crowd. He is playing for something as September begins, in the middle of a pennant race with his new club.
