The Mariners dropped a 4-1 decision to the White Sox yesterday, losing three of four over the weekend in Chicago, and falling to 1-5 in their last six games overall. Seattle has scored one run or fewer 10 times since the 2016 All-Star break (third most in MLB).

The Rangers beat the Indians, 2-1, on Sunday, taking three of four from the Tribe at Globe Life Park over the weekend, and improving to 12-4 in their last 16 home games overall. Texas is 29-8 (.784) in one-run affairs this year -- currently the best single-season record by any team in such contests since 1900.

Texas has won eight of 12 meetings with Seattle this year, including three straight at Globe Life Park. These clubs have played 34 games in Arlington since the beginning of 2013, each winning 17 of those contests.

Hisashi Iwakuma allowed three runs (all earned) in 6.0 IP vs. the Yankees last Wednesday, taking the loss, and suffering back-to-back setbacks for just the second time this year (also April 11-17). Iwakuma is 4-1 with a 2.52 ERA in his last six road starts vs. the Rangers.

Yu Darvish went 6.0 innings and allowed five runs (three earned) five days ago in Cincinnati, garnering a no-decision for the effort. Darvish, who hit his first career home run last Wednesday, is 4-0 with a 3.18 ERA in six career home starts against the Mariners.

The Rangers had five hits in yesterday's triumph, none of which went for extra bases. Texas has had five games with zero extra-base hits since the 2016 All-Star break -- tied with the Royals for most of any AL club.

The Rangers are seeking a sweep and a fifth consecutive victory. Seattle has lost four straight and eight of its last nine games.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)  Rougned Odor followed his game-ending shot Tuesday night with two more homers Wednesday, and the Texas Rangers completed a sweep of the Seattle Mariners.
New teammate Carlos Gomez had the blast that mattered most in finishing off the three-game set - a grand slam off Felix Hernandez that sent the Rangers on their way to a 14-1 romp over the Mariners.
