The Pirates defeated the Mariners at home on Wednesday by a score of 10-1. It was the Pirates' largest run differential in a win since they beat the Marlins, 10-0, on May 30.

Milwaukee got the victory on Thursday at home versus the Diamondbacks, 6-4, despite striking out 13 times. It was the 50th game this season that the Brewers have struck out at least 10 times, which is the most in the majors.

In his MLB debut last time out, Steven Brault threw 4 innings, giving up just two runs (one earned) while striking out five. Dating back to his time in the minors, Brault had thrown scoreless outings in each of his previous three starts, and in five of his previous six.

In his last start (at home versus the Cubs), Junior Guerra threw 6.1 scoreless innings and lowered his ERA on the season to 2.85. He is looking to become only the third Brewer since 1990 (Bill Wegman in 1991 and Ben Sheets in 2004) to qualify for the ERA title and finish the season with an ERA below 3.00.

Starling Marte went 2-for-3 in his last game and also stole his 36th base of the season, tying him with Jonathan Villar for the major league lead in swipes. It was Marte's 18th game of the season (most in the majors) with multiple hits and at least one stolen base.

MILWAUKEE -- For the second straight game, the Milwaukee Brewers will be without All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy. They'll have to get used to his absence.
After months of speculation, Milwaukee reportedly reached agreement on a deal that would send Lucroy, 30, to the Cleveland Indians for a package of prospects including highly touted catcher Francisco Mejia.

MILWAUKEE (AP)  Pittsburgh's Jameson Taillon remembers Hernan Perez from their days opposing each other in the minors. The rookie right-hander would just as soon forget about him now.
Perez drove in three runs with a two-run homer and an RBI single, lifting the Milwaukee Brewers over the Pirates 5-3 on Saturday night after Pittsburgh dealt closer Mark Melancon to Washington.
