The Cubs went 7-0 against the Mets last year and are 12-2 versus New York since the beginning of 2014. The seven victories in 2015 were the most by the Cubs in any single-season series since 1900 in which they went undefeated.

After dropping six of their previous seven games, the Cubs regained their bearings by sweeping three games at Cincinnati over the past three days. Chicago averaged nine runs per game and clubbed 10 homers in the series.

The Mets have lost four in a row, matching a season long (twice previously). They have been outscored, 25-8, during their current skid, when Mets pitchers have compiled a 7.03 ERA while walking (19) as many batters as they've struck out (19).

That matches Tony Taylor in 1958 and Joe Munson in 1925-26 for the longest such streaks by any Cub to begin their MLB careers since 1913.

NEW YORK -- When the New York Mets stumbled home Wednesday after losing three straight games to the Washington Nationals, there seemed to be a better chance the Mets would be worried about falling below .500 by the end of a four-game series against the Chicago Cubs than talking about a potential sweep of the presumptive World Series favorites.
Yet the Mets have a chance to break out the brooms Sunday afternoon in the finale of a National League Championship Series rematch at Citi Field. New York posted its third straight win with a 4-3 victory over the Cubs on Saturday night.
