The Rays took two of three games from the Red Sox at Fenway Park in April, improving to 61-53 in the series since the beginning of 2010. Over that span, Tampa Bay has produced the lowest ERA (3.87) and opponent batting average (.232) by any American League pitching staff versus Boston.

The Red Sox have allowed at least six runs in each of their past five games, the first time they've done that since May 2014. The last time Boston produced a longer streak was when the Red Sox permitted at least a half-dozen runs in seven consecutive games in September 2011.

The Rays' losing streak has reached 11 games, tying for the third-longest skid in franchise history. Tampa Bay has been outscored, 72-29, over the 11 games, and has surrendered at least five runs in every loss.

By going 2-for-5 on Sunday, Mookie Betts recorded his 33rd multi-hit game of 2016, matching teammate Xander Bogaerts for the highest total in the majors. Betts is now batting .387 with two outs, the top mark in the American League (minimum 0.93 PA per team game).

Eduardo Rodriguez has tended to pitch well early in his starts, as he's permitted a .143 batting average through the first two innings. But opponents have hit .324 from the third inning on. Furthermore, while Rodriguez has allowed a .195 average in his first trip through opposing lineups, that mark rises to .237 in the second trip and .407 in the third.

Although Blake Snell remains winless, he has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of three starts. The only Rays to ever begin their MLB careers with longer streaks were David Price (5) and Tim Corcoran (4).

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- As rough a road trip as the Boston Red Sox have had in the past week, they enter Wednesday's series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays with David Price on the mound and a chance to finish the trip 3-3 with a win.
That was the powerful momentum of Tuesday's 8-2 win, which bore little resemblance to the 13-7 loss the night before that saw Boston give up a season-high 18 hits in taking their sixth loss in eight games.

''I was off a little mechanically. It was kind of tough for me to regain my focus, so I was doing everything I could to slow the game down,'' the Boston pitcher said after minimizing the damage during a bases-loaded, fourth-inning jam and helping the Red Sox end a three-game losing streak with an 8-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.
