Arizona swept a four-game series from the Phillies in Philadelphia ending last Monday, outscoring them 22-5 over the four games. The D-backs have clinched their first season series victory over Philadelphia since going 5-1 in 2007.

The Diamondbacks pounded out 30 runs and 56 hits in a four-game series at Colorado through Sunday, with the 56 hits the most in franchise history in a four-game series. They only managed a split of the series, however, as they allowed 35 runs and 53 hits to the Rockies.

The Phillies are an MLB-worst 8-28 (.222) going back to May 20. They haven't won any of 12 series played since that date (0-10-2), and haven't won back-to-back games since May 17-18 versus the Marlins.

Odubel Herrera hit his eighth homer of the season yesterday, matching his total in 147 games played last year as a rookie. Herrera leads the Phillies in batting average (.298), on-base percentage (.391), runs (41), and steals (11).

Vince Velasquez is returning to the rotation tonight after spending most of June on the DL with a biceps injury. His average of 10.7 strikeouts per nine innings ranks sixth among MLB pitchers with at least 10 starts this season.

Over his last 17 games (since June 7), Paul Goldschmidt is batting .414 (29/70) with four home runs and 16 RBI. For the season, he leads the majors in walks (63) and on-base percentage (.436).

The Phillies provided a salve, and the D-backs used a four-game sweep at Citizens Bank Park as a springboard to a 7-3 road trip, tying the franchise record for the best 10-game trip in club history.
