This is the first meeting between the Rangers and Red Sox this season. Last season, Texas went 5-2 versus Boston despite being out-hit, 63-62, over the seven games. The Rangers are 36-20 (.643) versus the Red Sox since 2009, their second-best record versus any team they've faced 25 times over that span (66-25, .725, versus Houston).

Xander Bogaerts hit a walkoff single in the 10th inning of Boston's 8-7 home win versus the White Sox on Thursday, the Red Sox's second walkoff win this season (David Ortiz hit a walkoff double versus the Astros in the 11th inning on May 14). The win snapped Boston's three-game losing streak, tied for its longest losing streak of the season.

The Rangers beat the Reds, 6-4, at home on Wednesday and are now 25-7 since May 20, the best record in MLB over that span and tied for the most wins by the Rangers in a 32-game single-season span all-time (also 1977).

David Ortiz was walked three times in Boston's win on Thursday, his 37th career game with at least three walks (tied with Alex Rodriguez for the second most among active players; Joey Votto -- 39).

David Price has posted a 5.15 ERA versus the Rangers over his career, his highest career ERA versus any single opponent whom he has faced at least 10 times. Betts hit a tying two-run homer with two outs in the ninth, and Dustin Pedroia later scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in Boston's four-run ninth inning as the Red Sox beat the Texas Rangers 8-7 on Friday night.
