The Rangers are 4-3 versus the Angels this year, and took two of three games at home from Los Angeles April 29 to May 1. It was the first home series win by Texas over the Angels since 2013, after Los Angeles had gone 16-4 at Globe Life Park from 2014 to 2015.

Texas allowed just four runs combined in sweeping the Astros in Houston over the weekend. The Rangers are 13-0 this season when allowing two or fewer runs, one of three such unbeaten MLB teams (Red Sox 13-0, Reds 6-0).

The Angels' .285 team batting average this month ranks second best in the majors, to Boston's .314 average. Los Angeles hit just .231 in April.

Angels catcher Carlos Perez had a career-high five RBI in yesterday's 10-2 win over the Orioles. He has nine RBI in his last four games played, after driving in four runs in his first 24 games this season.

Nomar Mazara (.304) is one of three MLB rookies currently batting .300 or better (qualifiers only), along with the Cardinals' Aledmys Diaz (.352) and Arizona's Brandon Drury (.306).

Derek Holland failed to make it out of the third inning in back-to-back starts May 5 and May 10, allowing 16 combined runs (15 earned; 27.00 ERA). In his other six starts this season, Holland has a 2.57 ERA (10 ER in 35.0 IP).

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)  Like Rougned Odor before him, Nomar Mazara is having an impact for the Texas Rangers as the youngest player in the major leagues.
Mazara, a 21-year-old rookie slugger, hit the longest home run in the majors this season while Odor drove in three runs and scored three more in likely his last game before a suspension, a 15-9 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday.
