Oakland swept the first meeting between these teams at Safeco Field this season, holding Seattle to just four runs in the three games. The three-game streak is the A's longest winning streak in Seattle since 2012 (four).

The Athletics were swept in a four-game series at home over the weekend against the Yankees, including a 5-4 loss Sunday. Oakland has been swept four times this season, tied for second most in the AL behind Minnesota (eight).

Sonny Gray going on the disabled list was said to be a big blow for the Oakland Athletics' rotation given his potential to dominate on the mound. The reality is that he's been a major disappointment and one of their most unreliable starters this season.

SEATTLE (AP)  Leonys Martin needed a few looks to figure out Ryan Madson's changeup, and then he solved the offspeed pitch in a big way.
Martin hit a game-ending, two-run homer off the closer in the ninth inning to give the Seattle Mariners a 6-5 comeback victory over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.
