The Royals took two of three over the weekend from the White Sox in Chicago, winning their third straight series, and improving to 6-3 in the last nine games overall. Including all three games vs. the Sox, the Royals have left at least seven men on base 25 times in 2016 (third most in AL).

Minnesota lost, 3-1, at home to Toronto on Sunday, dropping three of four over the weekend, and falling to 1-9 in its last 10 games at Target Field overall. At 11-32 this season, the Twins are off to their worst start through 43 games in franchise history (since 1961).

The Royals swept the first series of the season with the Twins, outscoring Minnesota by a combined 15-6 in those three victories at Kauffman Stadium. Kansas City has won six straight games at Target Field, allowing two or fewer runs in each of those contests.

Ian Kennedy allowed two runs (both earned) in 5.2 IP last Wednesday against the Red Sox, garnering his first no-decision of the season. Kennedy is 2-1 with a 3.43 ERA in three career starts vs. the Twins.

Ricky Nolasco went 5.0 innings and allowed four runs (two earned) last Wednesday in Detroit, taking the loss, and dropping to 0-2 with a 6.65 ERA in four starts this month. Nolasco is 2-3 with a 3.83 ERA in seven career starts vs. the Royals.

Paulo Orlando went 2-for-4 yesterday, and is now batting .545 (12-for-22) during his current six-game hitting streak. Orlando is hitting .258 in 12 career games vs. the Royals.

Continued dominance over the Minnesota Twins has allowed the Kansas City Royals to extend their resurgence.
The Royals can sweep the three-game set Wednesday by beating the Twins for a ninth straight time overall and in Minnesota.
