The Rangers are 4-3 versus the Angels this year, and took two of three games at home from Los Angeles April 29 to May 1. It was the first home series win by Texas over the Angels since 2013, after Los Angeles had gone 16-4 at Globe Life Park from 2014 to 2015.

Texas allowed just four runs combined in sweeping the Astros in Houston over the weekend. The Rangers are 13-0 this season when allowing two or fewer runs, one of three such unbeaten MLB teams (Red Sox 13-0, Reds 6-0).

The Angels' .285 team batting average this month ranks second best in the majors, to Boston's .314 average. Los Angeles hit just .231 in April.

Derek Holland failed to make it out of the third inning in back-to-back starts May 5 and May 10, allowing 16 combined runs (15 earned; 27.00 ERA). In his other six starts this season, Holland has a 2.57 ERA (10 ER in 35.0 IP).

The Texas Rangers' starting rotation has been the best in the AL, and the consistency of Colby Lewis is paving the way.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)  Martin Perez pumped his fist and shouted - and the Texas left-hander kept on hollering as he came off the mound when he escaped a sixth-inning jam against the Los Angeles Angels.
Part of the reason for the excitement was that the 25-year-old kept calm even with Mike Trout and Albert Pujols coming to the plate in a one-run game.
