The Dodgers own a six-game winning streak against the Reds, their longest since a nine-game streak from 2008 to 2009. It is the Dodgers' longest active winning streak against a single opponent.

Los Angeles snapped a four-game losing streak with a 9-5 win in 17 innings at San Diego Sunday. It was the longest game in MLB this season (by innings), and the longest by the Dodgers since 2007 (also 17 innings, also at San Diego).

Clayton Kershaw has struck out 88 batters in his nine starts this season. The last pitcher to strikeout more batters through his first nine games in a season was Curt Schilling in 2002 with Arizona (95).

Cincinnati was swept by Seattle at home over the weekend, including a loss Sunday, 5-4. The Reds have been swept five times this season, second most in the NL behind Atlanta (six).

Scott Kazmir's first season with the Los Angeles Dodgers has thus far been a letdown. Dan Straily's first with the Cincinnati Reds has been a pleasant surprise, and he hasn't even been with the club for two months.
They'll go at it Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium in the finale of a three-game series with the Dodgers seeking a sweep and the Reds just content with ending a nine-game losing streak.

LOS ANGELES (AP)  Clayton Kershaw bailed out the Los Angeles Dodgers' exhausted bullpen with his third shutout of the season, and he was quick about it, too.
The left-hander allowed two hits and struck out seven on 102 pitches in a 1-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night. Kershaw retired his final 17 batters after issuing just his fifth walk of the season to Joey Votto leading off the fourth inning.
