Both of these pitching staffs have struggled with giving up the long ball so far this season. The Rays have allowed 33 home runs and the Angels 32; those rank fourth and fifth most in the AL, respectively.

Steve Pearce has now homered in back-to-back contests; this is the sixth time in his career that he has accomplished this feat, but he has never had a homer in three consecutive games (minimum 1 PA in each game).

Kole Calhoun enters this weekend riding an active six-game hitting streak. He is batting .458 (11/24) during this streak, which has resulted in his overall season average go from .256 to .304.

Chris Archer got off to a rough start to the 2016 season, losing his first four starts while posting a 7.32 ERA and .345 opponent average. But he has been much better in his last two starts (1-0, 1.42 (2/12.2) ERA, .136 (6/44) opp BA).

Cory Rasmus is scheduled to make his first start of the season on Friday. This would be just his eighth career MLB start; he made six in 2014 and one last season. He is 0-1 with a 2.86 (7/22.0) ERA and .177 (14/79) opponent BA as a starter, but did not go more than four innings in any of those appearances.

Nick Tropeano's fast start in the Los Angeles Angels' rotation took a left turn last week, but they're hoping he can reroute in time to end their lengthy slump.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP)  Chris Archer truly enjoys pitching against the Los Angeles Angels - particularly Mike Trout, for some reason.
The Tampa Bay Rays right-hander threw six scoreless innings and did not allow the Los Angeles Angels slugger to hit a ball out of the infield in three at-bats on Friday night in a 5-2 victory.
