The Mariners took two of three games from Houston in their series at Seattle in the last week of April. But the Astros have captured nine of their last 12 games versus Seattle at Minute Maid Park, though the Mariners did manage to win the last two meetings there last September.

The Mariners' sweep at Oakland was their fourth three-game winning streak of the season. After opening 2-6, Seattle is 14-5 since April 13, the highest winning percentage (.737) in the American League over that span.

Houston exploded for 16 runs on Thursday, doubling its previous season high (eight runs twice). It was the Astros' biggest outburst at home since scoring 18 runs against the Dodgers on August 26, 2003.

Wade Miley is coming off the first shutout of his career, as he blanked Kansas City on five hits last Saturday. It also was Miley's second complete game in 139 career starts. He issued no walks for the third time in five outings this season.

Included among Jose Altuve's three hits on Wednesday were his 13th double and eighth home run of the season. Altuve leads the majors with 21 extra-base hits in 2016, while his 71 total bases are one behind Manny Machado (72) for the most in MLB.

Carlos Correa clubbed his fourth home run of the season Wednesday, but his first since smacking three over his first two games of the campaign. Correa registered season highs with three runs scored and three RBI.

Collin McHugh helped the Houston Astros salvage a game against the Seattle Mariners when he bested Hisashi Iwakuma less than two weeks ago.
McHugh hopes he can help the Astros avoid a four-game series loss to their AL West rivals when he again opposes Iwakuma and the visiting Mariners on Sunday.
