Although the Brewers (11-16) and Reds (11-17) are both at least five games below .500, they actually rank quite high in the number of wins they've achieved when allowing at least four runs. The Brewers lead the majors with nine such victories, while the Reds are tied for third with six.

The Brewers' three-game winning streak, their longest of the season, ended in a 7-3 loss to the Angels in Milwaukee on Wednesday. The Brewers enter Thursday's action having played only 10 road games, the fewest in the National League.

CINCINNATI (AP)  Alfredo Simon knew the best thing he could do for Cincinnati's historically bad bullpen was to stay in the game a long time. He accomplished his goal, but the relievers still had trouble.
Jay Bruce hit a three-run homer during his latest big game against Milwaukee, and the Reds beat the Brewers 9-5 on Thursday night even though their bullpen extended its historically bad streak of allowing runs.
