The Cubs lost, 4-3, at home to the Braves in 10 innings yesterday, snapping their four-game winning streak in the process. Including yesterday, Chicago is now 3-4 when failing to hit a home run this season (14-2 in all other games).

Pittsburgh dropped a 6-5 home decision to Cincinnati in 11 innings on Sunday, ending its season-long win streak at six games. The Bucs are now 13-1 when scoring at least five runs in 2016 (2-9 in all other games).

These clubs are meeting for the first time of the season tonight. The Cubs were 11-8 overall against the Pirates in 2015, including a mark of 6-4 at PNC Park.

Jason Hammel pitched 6.0 innings of scoreless ball against the Reds eight days ago, lowering his NL-best ERA to 0.75 on the season. Dating to his last outing of the 2015 regular season, Hammel has put together five straight starts in which he's allowed one run or fewer -- the longest active streak of its kind in MLB.

Gerrit Cole went 6.0 innings and allowed four runs (two earned) last Tuesday against the Rockies, earning his second straight victory after dropping his first two outings of the 2016 campaign. Cole is 7-1 with a 2.88 ERA in nine career starts vs. the Cubs.

Josh Harrison went 1-for-5 yesterday, upping his current hitting streak to 10 straight games overall -- the longest active streak in MLB. Pittsburgh is the only NL club to boast two players with a 10+ game hit streak in 2016 (also John Jaso -- 12-game hit streak, April 9-23).

Ben Zobrist hit a three-run home run, Anthony Rizzo also connected and Jon Lester worked out of a pair of jams to lead the Cubs over the second-place Pittsburgh Pirates 6-2 Wednesday for a three-game sweep.
