The A's lost, 6-3, in Toronto yesterday, dropping their second straight road game after beginning the season 7-0 away from home. Oakland is attempting to go 8-2 in its first 10 road games for the second time in the last three campaigns (also 2014).

Detroit lost, 6-3, at home to Cleveland on Sunday, getting swept over the weekend by the Tribe, and losing its fourth straight game overall. The Tigers have scored three or fewer runs in five straight contests -- tied with Atlanta for the longest active streak of its kind in MLB.

Oakland took four of six meetings with Detroit in 2016 overall, including a three-game sweep of the Tigers at Comerica Park (June 2-4). Dating to May 29, 2010, these clubs have played 40 times, each team winning 20 of those games.

Kendall Graveman allowed just one run in 6.1 innings five days ago on the road against the Yankees, earning the victory, and improving to 1-0 with a 1.46 ERA in his last two outings (was 0-6 with a 5.52 ERA in his previous nine starts). Graveman won his only career start vs. the Tigers at Comerica Park on June 2 last season (6.0 IP, 3 ER).

Jordan Zimmerman went 6.1 innings and allowed zero runs for the third straight start last Wednesday in Kansas City, taking the victory, and improving to 3-0 on the season. The only active starting pitcher to begin a season with more consecutive scoreless innings was Zack Greinke who had 24.0 straight to begin the 2009 campaign with the Royals.

Detroit has four different qualifying players with a .300+ batting average in 2016 -- second most of any MLB club (Pittsburgh -- 7). No Oakland player (minimum 3.1 PA per team game) is batting .300 or better this season.

DETROIT (AP)  Detroit Tigers right-hander Anibal Sanchez thinks he is getting closer to finding the mechanics that deserted him last year.
The 2013 ERA champion had a 4.99 ERA last season and was at 7.00 through four starts this year. Despite control problems, he was good enough to beat the Oakland Athletics 7-3 on Thursday.
