The Royals beat the Mets, 7-1, in Game 2 on Wednesday and have now scored 75 runs this postseason, the most runs scored in any postseason in franchise history (Kansas City's previous high was 69, set last postseason).

The Mets are 3-1 at home this postseason, with their only home loss coming in Game 4 of the NLDS versus the Dodgers (lost, 3-1). The Royals are 2-3 on the road this postseason, and have lost their first road game played at each venue this playoffs (lost Game 3 of the ALDS at Minute Maid Park and lost Game 3 of the ALCS at Rogers Centre).

New York was held to just two hits in Game 2 of the World Series, the Mets' fewest hits in a playoff game all-time and the fewest hits by any team in a World Series game since the Tigers had just two hits at San Francisco in Game 2 of the 2012 World Series.

The Mets trail the Royals, 2-0, in the series. The last team to come back and win the series after trailing two games to none in the World Series was the 1996 New York Yankees (beat the Braves, 4-2, in the World Series). Only 10 of 51 teams to trail 2-0 in a best-of-seven World Series have come back to win the series all-time.

Alcides Escobar had two hits in Game 2, giving him 20 hits this postseason, tied for the most by a Royals player in a single postseason all-time (also Willie Wilson in 1985 and Lorenzo Cain and Eric Hosmer in 2014).

Daniel Murphy scored the Mets' only run in Game 2 and has now scored at least one run in 10 of his 11 games this postseason and in each of his last nine. Murphy's nine-game postseason streak with a run scored is tied for the second-longest postseason streak all-time (also Babe Ruth from 1927 to 1932 and Home Run Baker from 1910 to 1911); Carlos Beltran had an 11-game streak spanning the 2004 and 2006 postseasons.

Yordano Ventura, just 24 years old, will be making his ninth career postseason start, the second most all-time prior to turning 25 years old (Steve Avery -- 10). Ventura is just 1-1 in his first eight career postseason starts, but the Royals are 7-1 in those starts.

Noah Syndergaard is 0-2 with a 5.86 ERA in five career starts versus AL teams, three of which came at Citi Field. Syndergaard has 20 strikeouts this postseason (including exactly nine in each of his two starts), the most by a Mets rookie in a single postseason all-time.

Wright homered and drove in four runs, Curtis Granderson also connected and rookie Noah Syndergaard set a nasty tone at the start of a 9-3 victory against the Kansas City Royals that trimmed New York's deficit to 2-1 Friday night.
