Kansas City is on the brink of advancing to the World Series for the second consecutive season after winning Game 4 yesterday, 14-2. The Royals have won seven of their last eight potential series-clinching games with the only loss coming in Game 7 of the 2014 World Series. The Blue Jays only wins when facing elimination in franchise history were the three games against the Rangers in the ALDS this season.

After setting a franchise record for runs in a playoff game yesterday (14), the Royals have scored at least eight runs in each of the last two games, the first time in franchise history scoring at least eight runs in back-to-back games during a single postseason. The last MLB team to score eight or more runs in three straight postseason games was Tampa Bay in the 2008 ALCS against Boston.

Josh Donaldson recorded his fifth extra-base hit of the playoffs with a double in Game 4. The only players with more extra-base hits in a single postseason for the Blue Jays are Paul Molitor (10 in 1993) and Devon White (nine in 1993).

Ben Zobrist scored two runs for the Royals in Game 4 and has scored seven total in the series. That matches George Brett (1978 ALCS) for the most by a Royals player in a single playoff series. The last MLB players with more runs scored in a single series were Lance Berkman (nine) and Albert Pujols (eight) in the 2011 World Series for St. Louis.

Marco Estrada is making his postseason debut at Rogers Centre. He did it, pitching one-hit ball into the eighth inning to give Toronto's tattered bullpen a rest, and the Blue Jays beat the Kansas City Royals 7-1 Wednesday to close to 3-2 in the best-of-seven American League Championship Series.
