The Red Sox lost, 4-1, to the Yankees in the Bronx last night, snapping their season-long six-game winning streak in the process. Boston is 26-15 (.634) in its last 41 contests -- tied for third best in the majors since August 18.

Cleveland dropped a 4-2 decision at home to the Twins last night, losing for the fourth time in the last five games with the setback. At 78-80, the Indians need to sweep three from the Red Sox to post their third straight winning campaign.

Boston took two of three from the Tribe at Fenway Park in these clubs' first series of the 2015 season (August 17-19). Cleveland swept three from the Red Sox the last time the two teams played at Progressive Field (June 2-4, 2014).

Henry Owens pitched 7.2 innings of shut-out ball last Sunday vs. the Orioles, taking the win, and improving to 2-1 with a 1.61 ERA in his last four starts. Red Sox rookie pitchers have combined to win 24 games this season -- tied with the Rays and Phllies for second most in MLB (Braves -- 27).

Josh Tomlin allowed a season-high five runs (all earned) in just 3.2 IP last Saturday in Kansas City, but was bailed out by the Indians' offense, and got a no-decision in the contest. Tomlin is 1-2 with a 4.56 ERA in four career starts vs. the Red Sox.

Xander Bogaerts went 0-for-2 last night, snapping his four-game hitting streak, and falling 12 points behind Miguel Cabrera (.334 BA) in the race for the AL batting title. Bogaerts is just 1-for-9 (.111) in two games vs. Cleveland this season.

Both the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox entered 2015 with playoff aspirations that went unmet.

Kluber allowed three hits in eight innings while Carlos Santana and Ryan Raburn homered, leading the Cleveland Indians to a 2-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.
