The Astros have gone 9-4 versus the Mariners this season, including 6-1 in Houston, where the Astros have averaged 7.0 runs over the seven games. Houston has never won more than nine games in any previous season series against Seattle.

The Mariners played their 21st extra-inning game of 2015 on Sunday, matching a franchise high that was first set in 1982 and then tied in 2013. No other team this season has played more than 17 extra-inning games (Pirates and Diamondbacks).

Houston returns home after going 3-3 on its just completed road trip. The Astros have not lost a home series (10-0-2) since the beginning of June. Houston's 37-12 record at Minute Maid Park since May 13 represents the best home winning percentage (.755) in baseball over that span.

Vidal Nuno has compiled a 4.58 over four starts in 2015, more than doubling his rate (1.96) over 22 relief appearances. Perhaps not coincidentally, Nuno has allowed a .218 batting average in his first trip through the opposing lineup, but .309 thereafter.

At 15-6, Dallas Keuchel is currently tied with Felix Hernandez (15-8) for the most wins among American League pitchers. The 15 victories are the most by any Astro since Roy Oswalt went 17-10 in 2008.

Jose Altuve went 4-for-5 on Sunday to match a career high with four hits. Altuve is batting .402 since August 6, over which time he leads the majors with 37 hits.

HOUSTON (AP)  Rookie Shawn O'Malley was born and grew up in Washington in a family full of Seattle Mariners fans.
On Wednesday night he starred in his debut with the team, finishing with three hits, including a tiebreaking RBI single in a two-run eighth inning, and Logan Morrison padded the lead with a three-run shot in the ninth to help the Mariners to an 8-3 victory over the Houston Astros.
