Oakland earned the series win at Arizona over the weekend with a 7-4 win yesterday. The Athletics' 18 hits yesterday matched a season high for a road game (April 22 at Los Angeles Angels).

Los Angeles lost Sunday, 9-2, and were swept in three games by Cleveland. The Angels are now 3.5 games behind the Rangers for the second Wild Card spot after holding a lead in that spot as recently as August 21.

Billy Burns owns a seven-game hitting streak and has 127 hits in 2015. The only Oakland rookie with more hits in a single season over the last 10 years was Yoenis Cespedes with 142 in 2012. Burns' .297 batting average is the highest by an Athletics' rookie to qualify for the batting title since Mitchell Page in 1977 (.307).
