The Rangers beat the Orioles, 6-0, at Globe Life Park on Sunday, completing a three-game sweep, and winning their fourth straight game with the victory. Texas is 21-9 in its last 30 games -- second best in the AL since July 29.

San Diego defeated Philadelphia, 9-4, yesterday at Citizens Bark Park, snapping its three-game losing streak in the process. The Padres have won three straight series at Petco Park, posting an overall mark of 7-2 in those contests.

The Friars took two of three from the Rangers in Arlington (July 10-12) in these clubs' first series of the season. Texas has won three straight and four of its last five meetings against San Diego at Petco Park (dating to July 7, 2001).

Colby Lewis went 5.0 innings and allowed five runs (four earned) at home last Wednesday vs. the Blue Jays -- his shortest outing in his last nine starts. Lewis, who is looking for a career-best 15th win of the season, is 5-1 with a 2.25 ERA in his last six road starts (dating to June 19).

Tyson Ross (6.1 IP, 4 ER) beat the Nationals in his last outing, and is 3-1 with a 3.31 ERA in his last six starts overall. Ross is 1-1 with a 4.22 ERA in two career starts against the Rangers.

Yonder Alonso went 5-for-9 in his last two contests, finishing up the Padres' latest road trip with three multi-hit performances, and a .421 batting average in the six games. Alonso is just 2-for-21 (.095) in six career games vs. the Rangers.

SAN DIEGO (AP)  Tyson Ross had it all working Monday night: pitching, hitting and sportsmanship toward a good friend and former teammate.
Ross held Texas to three hits in seven innings and hit an RBI single, and the San Diego Padres won 7-0, handing the Rangers just their third loss in 10 games.
