The Diamondbacks swept the three-game series versus the Athletics the last time they faced Oakland (June 8-10, 2012 at Arizona), just their second series-sweep versus the A's all-time (also June 30-July 2, 2006 at Oakland). Arizona has won each of its last five home games versus Oakland after losing six of its first seven home games versus the A's (6-6 all-time at home versus Oakland).

The A's lost two of three games at Seattle earlier this week, giving up two home runs in each game. Oakland has now allowed at least one home run in each of its last 11 road games (22 total over that span), going 1-10 and being outscored 81-45 over those 11 games.

The Diamondbacks, who were swept at home in a four-game series versus the Cardinals earlier this week, lost to St. Louis, 5-3, on Thursday, striking out 12 times and failing to record an extra-base hit in the game. The loss was Arizona's second game this month striking out at least 12 times and failing to record an extra-base hit (also August 16 at Atlanta), the first time in franchise history that the Diamondbacks have had two such games in a single month.

Paul Goldschmidt is six RBI shy and three walks shy of becoming the second Diamondbacks player all-time with at least 25 home runs (he has exactly 25), 100 walks and 100 RBI in a single season (Luis Gonzalez had 57 home runs, 142 RBI and 100 walks in 2001).

Sonny Gray is currently leading the AL with a 2.10 ERA (among AL ERA Title qualifiers). Entering this season, only four Athletics pitchers have won the AL ERA Title since the team moved to Oakland in 1968: Diego Segui (1970), Vida Blue (1971), Catfish Hunter (1974) and Steve Ontiveros (1994).

After breaking out of his slump in a big way, Stephen Vogt looks to lead the Oakland Athletics to back-to-back road wins for just the second time in over seven weeks Sunday when they close this three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Vogt went 3 for 3 with a two-run homer and an RBI single in Oakland's 3-2 victory Saturday. The All-Star catcher was hitting .174 over the previous 28 games and his performance came a day after he allowed two passed balls that factored in a 6-4 loss.

PHOENIX (AP)  A night after his mistakes led to another Oakland loss, Stephen Vogt found redemption at the plate.
Vogt hit a splashdown homer into the Chase Field swimming pool and drove in three runs as the Athletics beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 on Saturday night.
