The Red Sox and the Mets are meeting for the first time since 2009 and for the first time in New York since 2001 (first ever at Citi Field). The Mets have won five of nine regular season games against the Red Sox in Queens.

The Mets completed a four-game sweep in Philadelphia last night, scoring four runs in the 13th inning to win 9-5. The Mets currently have a seven-game winning streak and, in the process, set a franchise record for runs scored in a seven-game span (73).

The Red Sox won the final game of their series against the White Sox on Wednesday, 3-0, behind a strong pitching performance from Rick Porcello. Boston is scoring 6.26 runs per game this month -- second only to the New York Mets (6.46).

Matt Harvey is pitching for the first time since August 16, where he allowed one earned run and seven hits over 6.0 innings against the Pirates. Harvey has never faced the Red Sox but is 2-0 with a 1.14 ERA (3/23.2) and 23 strikeouts in three career starts against the AL East.

Henry Owens had the best start of his career last Friday against the Royals, surrendering just one earned run and four hits over 8.0 innings. Owens is 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA (12/24.0) and 21 strikeouts in his first four career starts.

Yoenis Cespedes is batting .361 (13-for-36) with six home runs, 15 RBI, 11 runs scored, and a .944 slugging percentage during the Mets' seven-game winning streak. Cespedes's 15 RBI in a seven-game span is the most by a Mets player since Carlos Beltran accomplished the same feat August 16-23, 2007.

Kelly won his sixth straight outing, recovering nicely from a rocky start to outpitch Jacob deGrom and lead the Boston Red Sox over the New York Mets 3-1 Saturday.
