The Padres were swept by the Phillies in a three-game series in San Diego earlier this month. Since 2010, the Phillies are 27-11 against San Diego -- their .711 winning percentage vs. the Padres is the highest in the National League vs. any single opponent amongst teams that have played each other at least 25 times in that span.

The Phillies look to bounce back after getting swept at home in a four-game series vs. the Mets. Philadelphia pitchers surrendered 35 earned runs in 40.0 innings (7.88 ERA), while Mets batters enjoyed a .316 batting average (55/174).

After winning five in a row, the Padres have lost three of their last four, including the rubber match against the Nationals in Washington last night, 4-2. The Padres had just three hits in the game -- the 11th time this season the Padres have been limited to three or fewer hits (tied for most games in baseball, Dodgers).

Ian Kennedy received the win last Saturday against the Cardinals, giving up no earned runs and striking out a season-high 10 batters in 6.0 innings. Kennedy is 3-2 with a 3.33 ERA (17/46.0) in seven career starts against the Phillies and has limited Philadelphia to a .213 batting average.

Last Sunday against the Marlins, Aaron Nola surrendered no earned runs and just three hits over 8.0 innings. Nola did not earn a decision in his last start against the Padres, giving up three earned runs and six hits while striking out six through 6.0 innings. Nola has never faced the same team twice in his career.

Cameron Rupp is batting .419 (13-for-31) with three home runs, five runs scored and eight RBI during his career-long nine-game hitting streak dating back to August 11. Rupp's streak is the longest by a Phillies catcher since Carlos Ruiz had a nine-game hitting streak May 7-17, 2013.
