The Astros won two of three games versus the Twins the last time they faced them in Minnesota (June 6-8, 2014), just the third road series-win by Houston versus the Twins all-time (also June 4-6, 1999 and June 19-21, 2009). The Astros scored 14 runs at Minnesota in the last game of the series last season (June 8, 2014), the most runs scored by either team in a single game in the head-to-head series all-time (regardless of venue).

The Astros have allowed two or fewer runs in each of their last nine games dating back to August 18, going 7-2 over that span. Houston's 1.25 team ERA over the nine-game span is its lowest in a single-season nine-game span since posting a 1.24 team ERA from June 7-15, 1987.

The Twins were riding a season-high six-game win streak before losing, 5-4, at Tampa Bay on Thursday. All six of those wins came on the road; the last time the Twins had a longer single-season road win streak was when they won eight straight road games from July 23-August 6, 2006.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)  Mike Fiers didn't finish this start on the field. The Houston Astros didn't jump up and down after the final out. There was no podium for the post-game media coverage, just a handful of reporters in the corner of the clubhouse.
This win was just as important, though, for a team trying to reach the postseason for the first time in 10 years.
