Washington pitching allowed six home runs in losing all three games to the Mets at Citi Field over the weekend, accounting for eight of the 10 New York runs. In their previous 12 games, the Nationals had surrendered only seven round-trippers.

After moving their record to 50-51 with a win at Houston on Friday, the Diamondbacks lost to the Astros on Saturday and Sunday to drop three games under break-even. Since April 26, the D'Backs have a 1-14 record in games they've entered exactly one game under .500.

Since May 2, 2012, Washington is 8-1 at home against Arizona, including 7-1 in games decided by one or two runs. The Nats' four-game sweep of the Diamondbacks at Nationals Park last August featured three walkoff victories.

WASHINGTON (AP)  After facing several of the National League's elite starters over the past two weeks, it was a rookie who knocked the Washington Nationals out of first place in the NL East.
Zack Godley pitched six scoreless innings in his third major league start and the Nationals' ninth-inning rally fell short in a 6-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night that dropped Washington out of first place for the first time since mid-June.
