The D-backs defeated the Brewers, 3-0, at home on Sunday, blanking Milwaukee for the second straight game, and recording their seventh shutout of the season overall. Arizona has never shut out three straight opponents since joining the majors in 1998.

Seattle beat Toronto, 6-5, in 10 innings at home yesterday -- its AL-high 13th extra-inning game of the season (7-6 record). The Mariners have scored five or more runs in three straight games for just the second time in 2015 (four-game streak from April 11-14).

These clubs are meeting for the first time since 2012 when the D-backs took two of three from the M's at Chase Field. Including four straight victories, Seattle is 7-2 all-time in three series against Arizona at Safeco Field.

Robbie Ray went a season-low 4.2 innings and allowed five runs (four earned) last Wednesday vs. the Marlins at Chase Field, taking the loss, and dropping to 3-5 on the season with the setback. Ray is 3-2 with a 1.35 ERA in five road starts this year.

Mike Montgomery allowed a career-high eight runs (six earned) in just 2.2 innings last Wednesday on the road against the Tigers, and is 0-2 with a 9.22 ERA in his last three starts overall (4-2, 1.62 ERA in first seven starts of 2015). Montgomery is 1-1 with a 2.20 ERA in his first two career interleague outings.

Including his 25th long ball of the season, Nelson Cruz went 2-for-5 yesterday, giving him four home runs, seven RBI and a .429 batting average during his current six-game hitting streak. Cruz is just 4-for-26 (.154 BA) with zero homers and one RBI in seven career games vs. the D-backs.

SEATTLE (AP)  Rookie right-hander Zack Godley wasn't as dominant as his first time out. With the help of timely hitting and solid defense, he was good enough.
Godley pitched six strong innings in his second career start, David Peralta had three hits and two RBIs, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Seattle Mariners 8-4 on Tuesday night for their fourth consecutive victory.
