The Twins have alternated losses and wins in each of their last seven games overall (LWLWLWL) and have just two victories in their last eight road contests.

The Reds have won seven of their last eight home games, outscoring their opponents 44-19 in those contests. Cincinnati has lost eight of its 11 interleague contests this season, while Minnesota has lost eight of its 15 in IL competition.

Mike Pelfrey is 0-2 with a 5.89 ERA in his last three starts after going 2-1 with a 0.82 ERA in his previous three outings. Pelfrey, who will be facing the Reds for the first time since July 2011 (while with the Mets), has won three of his last four starts against Cincinnati.

Mike Leake is 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA in his five starts this June. However, Leake is 0-3 with a 9.45 ERA in his last four interleague starts.

Brian Dozier went 0-for-5 against Milwaukee on Sunday after recording at least two hits in each of his previous three contests (7-for-11, .636). Dozier is hitless in three career games against the Reds (0-for-10).

CINCINNATI (AP)  Torii Hunter homered again after a long delay at the start of the game, and Phil Hughes got his third straight victory, leading the Minnesota Twins to an 8-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night.
The start was delayed 2 hours, 1 minute because a storm was headed toward the ballpark. The storm dissolved on the way.
