The Padres have just four wins in 12 interleague contests so far in 2015, while losing all five of their home games in IL play. These teams split their two meetings so far this season, both in Seattle, with the Mariners winning the first contest (11-4) and San Diego prevailing in the second matchup (4-2).

Mike Montgomery, who will be making the sixth start of his ML career, struck out a career-high 10 batters in his last outing last Tuesday (a victory over Kansas City). Montgomery has recorded a quality start in four of his five starts this season.

Ian Kennedy is 2-1 with a 2.40 ERA in his last five starts after going 2-5 with a 7.15 ERA in his first eight starts of the season. Kennedy lost his only career start against Seattle back on May 12, allowing five runs and eight hits in 4.2 innings of work.

SAN DIEGO (AP)  Rookie left-hander Mike Montgomery took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning and finished with a one-hitter for his second straight shutout as the Seattle Mariners beat the San Diego Padres 5-0 Tuesday night.
Making his sixth major league start, Montgomery opened the seventh by getting Justin Upton on a fly to left. Yangervis Solarte hit Montgomery's next pitch into the left-field corner for a double.
