These teams are meeting for the first time this season after the Red Sox won the season series, 4-2, in 2014. The last time Minnesota won the season series against Boston was 2006 (5-1).

Boston has won three consecutive Memorial Day games and owns an 83-81 (.506) all-time record on Memorial Day. Minnesota is just 62-97 (.390) on Memorial Day all-time, the fifth-worst record on the holiday by current MLB teams.

The Twins won the rubber match of their weekend series against the White Sox, 8-1, yesterday. It was the Twins' ninth game scoring eight or more runs -- only Washington (11), Detroit and Toronto (10 each) have more.

The Red Sox are coming off a series win against the Angels after a 6-1 win yesterday. Boston has recorded 10 or more hits in three straight games for the first time this season.

Ricky Nolasco is attempting to win his fifth consecutive start and would be the first Twins pitcher to win five straight starts since Nick Blackburn won five in-a-row in 2010.
