St. Louis managed just two hits in its 5-0 loss to the Mets on Thursday. It was the second time this season that the Cardinals have had two of fewer hits in a game (had one hit in 2-0 loss to the Indians, May 13); they played in no such games in 2014.

The Royals have outscored their opponents 16-1 during their current three-game win streak. The last time Kansas City allowed no more than one run in four straight games was May 6-9, 2014. The franchise record is five straight games, set July 3-6, 1971.

Matt Holliday has reached base safely via a hit, walk or HBP in 40 straight games. Not only is that the longest active streak in the majors, it is the longest such streak by any Cardinal since Albert Pujols had a 40-game streak, August 11-September 24, 2011. After going 0-4 with a 8.83 ERA in his first five career road interleague starts, Lance Lynn is 2-0 with a 2.31 (3/11.2) ERA in his last two; Lynn threw six innings of shutout ball while striking out nine at Cleveland on May 12.

Chris Young has been dominant in his home interleague starts in his career, going undefeated (6-0, 2.03 (11/48.2) ERA, .183 (32/175) opponent BA) in his eight outings. That is tied with Jordan Zimmermann for the second-longest active such streak from the start of any pitcher's career (Justin Verlander, 16; streak not broken by any relief appearances).
