The Yankees beat the Red Sox, 8-5, last night, and have now won six straight road games overall. New York has already posted two three-game road series sweeps in 2015 (also at TB, April 17-19) after recording just one such sweep last season.

Toronto lost a 6-1 lead on its way to dropping a 10-7 decision in Cleveland yesterday, finishing up its 10-game road trip with a mark of 3-7. The Blue Jays are 5-5 at Rogers Centre this season.

The Jays took two of three from the Yanks in these clubs' first series of the season in New York, and are 9-7 in the last 16 meetings against New York overall. Toronto is averaging 5.5 runs per game in 2015 -- highest in MLB.

Chase Whitley went 5.0 innings and allowed just one run (earned) in his first outing of the season last Tuesday against Tampa Bay, picking up the win and improving to 4-3 in 13 career MLB starts. Whitley is 1-1 with a 10.80 ERA in two career starts vs. the Blue Jays.

R.A. Dickey allowed four runs (all earned) in 7.0 innings last Wednesday in Boston, taking the loss and falling to 0-3 with a 5.23 ERA in his first five outings of the 2015 campaign. Since joining the Jays in 2013, Dickey is 3-0 with a 0.45 ERA in three starts vs. the Yankees at Rogers Centre.

Jacoby Ellsbury went 4-for-4 last night against his former team, recording the 13th four-hit game of his career, and upping his batting average to .538 (14-for-26) during his current six-game hitting streak. Ellsbury is batting .350 since 2011 vs. the Jays in Toronto.

Devon Travis belted his first career grand slam in yesterday's setback, becoming the ninth Blue Jay rookie all-time to do so. Travis is batting .438 at Rogers Centre this season -- the third-best home BA of any player in the majors (minimum 30 AB).
