The Angels captured two of three games at Seattle in the season-opening series for both teams last month. The scene now shifts to Angel Stadium, where the Mariners went 6-4 in 2014, producing their most road wins in the series since 2005.

The Mariners followed three straight wins at Texas last week with four consecutive losses at Houston this weekend. It was the first four-game sweep Seattle had suffered since May 17-20 in 2013 (at Cleveland).

With three losses at San Francisco this weekend, the Angels have fallen 7.0 games behind Houston in the AL West. At 11-14, the Angels have matched their season low at three games below .500.

Seth Smith went 3-for-4 on Sunday, raising his batting average in day games to an MLB-leading .625 (10-for-16). However, Smith is batting just .143 (6-for-42) when hitting at night. His slugging percentage is 1.313 in day games, compared to .167 at night.

Over nine starts against the Angels since July 2013, Felix Hernandez is 5-1 with a 1.07 ERA. And in four starts versus Los Angeles since last July, Hernandez has gone 2-0 while allowing just one earned run over 26.1 innings (0.34 ERA).

Matt Shoemaker has permitted at least three earned runs in all four of his starts in 2015. He did so only five times in 20 starts last year. Shoemaker has gone consecutive starts without posting a victory after not doing so once in 2015 (relief appearances disregarded).

 right  field in the  bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Los Angeles Angels
 to  their  second straight walk-off  win over the  Seattle Mariners with a 4-3
 decision on Wednesday.
